This painting is one of the 36 paintings of Sydney I plan to create. Since my arrival in Australia, I have been captivated by the natural and cultural beauty of this wonderful land. My work is a fusion of traditional Chinese painting and Western painting, highlighting the essence of traditional Chinese art’s capability to capture the Yi Jing (意境) of the subject we wish to paint. The painting is created using gouache and watercolours.

This painting portrays the Hornby Lighthouse, majestically standing at South Head, surrounded by the sweeping waves of the sea. The Sydney skyline and Harbour Bridge are featured, with the Anzac Bridge mistily visible in the distance, adding layers of depth to the scene. The lighthouse serves as a welcoming beacon, ushering in people from all over the world to Sydney’s prosperous and culturally rich shores. It stands as a symbol of guidance and welcome, embodying the spirit of hospitality and diversity that defines the city. The artwork captures the dynamic interplay between nature and urban elegance, celebrating the unique beauty and cultural abundance of Sydney.

The original painting is not available for sale. However, I have prepared this fine art print for a limited edition of 100 copies, each signed in traditional Chinese calligraphy, and a seal is applied to the lower corner of the print. If you prefer the signature is not on the front, please leave a message, and a new print will be made for you. I will sign it on the back or issue a certificate of authenticity.

The print is framed with a minimalist frame depicted in the picture, and an extra heavyweight mat board is placed between the front mount and the frame base for enhanced protection and to facilitate the easy removal of the artwork.
